Most of us wear a fifth of what we own. The rest waits in the wardrobe, making mornings harder. A thirty-piece wardrobe is not a rule; it is a way to see clearly what you actually reach for.

## Step one: empty everything

Take every piece out and sort into three piles: worn this month, worn this year, not worn this year. Be honest. The third pile is not a failure, it is information.

## Step two: find your uniform

Look at the first pile. You will see a pattern: the same shapes, the same colors, the same fabrics. That is your uniform, and it should be the backbone of what you keep.

## Step three: count to thirty

Excluding underwear, sportswear and shoes, choose thirty pieces from the first two piles. Store the rest out of sight for three months. If you do not miss something, let it go.

## Step four: buy slowly

When something wears out, replace it with the best version you can afford. Wait a week before any new purchase. Most impulses do not survive seven days.
